World Cup Fever Strikes Fairplex

The Garden Railroad is a year-round exhibit supported by the he Fairplex Programming department so when they asked us to participate in a series of FIFA World Cup Watch Parties we were happy to oblige. Volunteers were supported by the Fairplex Learning and Development Center providing registration management through The Volunteer Hub. The events took place during the last four days of the World Cup culminating with the final match on July 19. Fairplex went out of the way to make this a family oriented activity and there were plenty of games and activities for all ages as well as many food and drink vendors. The games were shown in 3 buildings with one entire building supported by Telemundo which presented the games in Spanish. Of course, visitors could tour the Garden Railroad when they had their fill of football and we met many different people including a family from Hong Kong! This was the largest activity conducted by our crew after the LA County Fair and we had lots of volunteers help out. Several thousand visitors attended the event and a good time was had by all!
