In my last post, we ended with our contractor volunteer Mike Z., starting on removing our old wooden walkway. This is in preparation for a new support structure which will be covered with TREX® composite decking. The TREX® corporation has generously donated the decking for this project and we welcome them to our family of Garden Railroad Supporters. Look for special TREX® advertising in the future including a special TREX® train car! This preparation has taken up most of the Summer!
Out with the old……
Entire sections were removed at one time.
A clean area in front! Areas had the be excavated to receive the support structure.
WHAT DID YOU FIND? An unusual broken pipe- fixed by our friendly Facilities team!
Careful digging is required!
While we have access, let’s upgrade our utilities!
The first section of supporting grid is installed. These frames will be attached to concrete on both sides of the area.
NEARLY THERE! A shorter section will be installed at the end with allowance for turning the corner to the front walkway!
